Search Tips (for my search engine)


It is possible to create a number of different kinds of queries with this search engine. My search engine supports the operators AND, OR, and NOT, as well as parentheses (). You can also type a list of words without operators between them and the operator will default to that selected on the previous screen below the box where you enter the query itself.

Phrases (in quotation marks) are NOT yet supported.

The AND operator returns passages that match BOTH specified keywords.

The OR operator returns passages that match EITHER specified keyword.

The NOT operator always assumes an AND before itself, and as such, returns passages that match the first keyword but not the second. Using the construction [keyword] OR NOT [keyword] is not allowed, as the number of returned passages would be quite large. :)

If you would like to return passages where the keywords specified in an AND query don't have to be in the same verse but only close in context (same chapter, within 3 verses), click the appropriate checkbox on the previous screen.
