Special Purpose Facilities > Parallel Computing Cluster

To teach students MIMD parallel computing concepts, we have a 16 node cluster of Pentium III computers on a separate high speed network. The cluster is controlled by a Linux machine onto which students can log in and submit jobs to run.

The cluster utilizes the popular PVM package for message passing between nodes. Dr. Toll uses the cluster for projects in the Algorithms class.
