Stefan Brandle, Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering DepartmentCSE web site biography Taylor web site biography Dr. Stefan Brandle is making an exciting exploratory trip during the month of January, 2007 to visit Bingham University, a brand new, technology- and medicine-focused university located in New Karu, Nasarawa State, Federal Repulic of Nigeria. He expects to present some guest lectures, consult on their computer science program, and learn more about their facilities and plans. He will also be investigating ways for Taylor University faculty and students to help Bingham University get established. The trip is being supported by the Upland Community Church, the Taylor Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, the Taylor Center for Global Engagement, and the Computer Science and Engineering Department.
Located in the geographical center of Nigeria, Bingham University was licensed by the Nigerian Government in January, 2005. With it's doors currently open for instruction, Bingham is in the midst of a ten-year, $138.2 million building campaign (US dollars). It's aim is to provide a God-centered education that puts service above material acquisition in such fields as the arts, business and social sciences, science and technology, pharmacy, clinical sciences and dentistry, basic medical sciences, education, agriculture, law, and veterinary medicine. Dr. Brandle's three-week teaching and consulting assignment to the Nigerian University is timely for Taylor University's recent inception of the Center for Global Engagement. It is of special significance to the CSE Department with the newly formed Missions Computing Initiative. |
