The Bible
Why is it important to me?
I won't go into the proofs here at this time (perhaps I'll someday add an
additional page to do this...), but I believe that quite a lot of evidence
exists to support God's existence (The Creator left His fingerprints all
over the creation...). Now, if God exists, and He made us, then
surely He would desire to communicate with us in some way. Because of the
personal faith that I have, and because of the evident supernatural
characteristics of the Bible, I believe that the Bible is His written
word to us. Because I believe this, the Bible takes on special importance
to me.
Some of my favorite Scripture passages...
The Bible is not only important to me from a theoretical standpoint. In fact,
the theory involved may be encouraging to me, but nothing is more encouraging
than immersing myself in the Word on a daily basis. This is the voice of
experience -- God can really use the Word to teach, correct, encourage, and
train His people in righteousness (this is what I was referring to earlier when
I said I was "under construction for Him"). The following are a few passages that
have been especially meaningful to me...
The Bible, On-Line
Click on the following link to find your way to a service that I have
personally set up on my account here. You can view the entire Bible
via your viewer program here. Don't worry -- it won't load the entire
thing in one big chunk... just one chapter at a time, with indices. The text is
in the King James translation because it is available for use
without copyright issues to worry about.
One quick note - I didn't type the whole Bible in <grin>, rather I
downloaded it off of another site on the Internet back in 1994. Unfortunately,
I no longer have the contact information for that.... I simply took the text
itself and formatted it (using an automated formatter) into HTML.
